Decluttering A House

A Christmas Declutter | Tips & Tricks

Even before all of the presents and gifts are unwrapped at Christmas time there is normally still clutter in any home. We are here to give you some tips on getting your home ready for Christmas. Lots of people feel overwhelmed and anxious about the idea of clearing out their home and second guess if they should be getting rid of certain items or not. The following are some of the benefits of decluttering your home before Christmas.

Tips and tricks for decluttering this Christmas

Who wants to start a new year with decluttering? Definitely not us. Cleaning and organising your home before Christmas is one of the best ways to get ready to start a new year. You’ll be ready to take on challenges as the new year begins.

Get rid of the superficial clutter

If there is too much clutter in your home, the best you can do is start the decluttering process by getting rid of the items that you don’t need at all. You can use two bin bags for this. Even if the items aren’t useful to you they may be useful to someone else, you could donate them to the local charity shop or even sell the items online if they have value.

Make a decluttering plan

Be sure to create a manageable plan to avoid feeling discouraged in the middle of the decluttering process. The plan may help if distractions get in the way when you’re cleaning as you have a record of where you are up to within the home. A plan can also keep you motivated and encourage you to carry on.

Go room by room

The best way to approach any decluttering project is to work through your house room by room. You can start with the most cluttered room, this will also help you make decisions on what to keep or maybe move to another room.

Sort the clutter

Organise your items. Group them into items that you should either keep, donate, or sell. That way, you won’t start need to start another sorting process once you’re done organising your rooms.

Being too busy means too many extras

Often people buy items that they already own because they either can’t remember that they already own the item, or think they’ve lost it. However, it is a lot easier when you can find what you’re looking for quickly as your house is organised. Plus, it will save you time and money.
